Description
A rich, creamy, and velvety chocolate mousse made with just five simple ingredients. This healthy-ish, plant-based dessert is ready in minutes and tastes like high-end bakery chocolate without the guilt.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 medium ripe avocados (about 1 cup / 240g flesh)
- ½ cup / 50g unsweetened cocoa powder (Dutch-processed preferred)
- ¼ cup / 60ml pure maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon / 5ml vanilla extract
- 2–3 tablespoons / 30-45ml unsweetened almond milk
- Pinch of flaky sea salt (about ¼ teaspoon)
Instructions
- Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a blender.
- Add the cocoa powder, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and almond milk to the blender.
- Blend on high speed for 2-3 minutes until the mixture is completely smooth, glossy, and creamy with no chunks visible. Scrape down the sides halfway through if needed.
- Taste the mousse and adjust sweetness or thickness by adding more maple syrup or almond milk as desired.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 15-30 minutes to firm up (optional but recommended).
- Spoon into serving bowls or glasses and sprinkle with flaky sea salt before serving.
Notes
Ensure avocados are very ripe (soft to the touch) for a smooth texture. Dutch-processed cocoa provides a richer, darker flavor. Flaky sea salt is essential to enhance the chocolate flavor. The mousse can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Do not freeze as the texture may become grainy.
