Tailgate Buffalo Chicken Dip: Easy 3-Ingredient Game Day Snack

  • Author: Lisa
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

A simple, creamy, and spicy buffalo chicken dip made with just three main ingredients. Perfect for game days, parties, or quick weeknight dinners, this recipe delivers maximum flavor with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces (225g) full-fat block cream cheese, softened
  • 1 to 1.5 cups (240-360ml) buffalo sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot Original)
  • 2 cups (280g) cooked shredded chicken (rotisserie or leftover roasted)
  • 1 cup (100g) sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
  • 23 green onions, sliced (optional)
  • ½ cup (50g) blue cheese crumbles (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons ranch dressing (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and buffalo sauce. Stir vigorously with a fork or use a hand mixer until completely smooth and uniform.
  3. Add the shredded chicken to the cream cheese mixture and stir until evenly coated.
  4. Transfer the mixture to an 8×8 inch baking dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, the edges are bubbling, and the top is slightly golden.
  6. Remove from oven and let sit for 5 minutes to allow the dip to set slightly.
  7. Garnish with green onions and/or blue cheese crumbles if desired.
  8. Serve warm with sturdy chips, celery sticks, or carrot sticks.

Notes

Ensure cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps. Do not use canned chicken as it is too mushy. For a milder dip, use less buffalo sauce. For extra heat, increase the buffalo sauce amount. The dip can be made up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated; add 5-10 minutes to baking time if starting cold. Do not freeze as dairy may separate.
