Small-Batch Salted Caramel Blondies: 5-Ingredient Easy Recipe

  • Author: Lisa
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 bars 1x

Description

A quick, chewy, and gooey small-batch dessert that feeds two people. These blondies combine butter, brown sugar, flour, and a swirl of salted caramel sauce for an indulgent treat ready in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (200g) light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup (95g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (120g) caramel sauce
  • Flaky sea salt, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 6-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
  2. Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until just liquid. Let it cool for a minute.
  3. Whisk the brown sugar and granulated sugar into the melted butter until the mixture resembles wet sand.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract, whisking vigorously until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  5. Sprinkle the flour and salt over the wet ingredients. Gently fold with a spatula or fork until the flour just disappears. Do not overmix.
  6. Spread the thick batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  7. Dollop spoonfuls of caramel sauce over the batter. Use a knife or toothpick to swirl the caramel into the batter, creating marbled patterns.
  8. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and set, but the center still looks slightly soft and jiggly.
  9. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
  10. Let cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes to set before lifting out and cutting into 4 or 6 bars.

Notes

Do not overbake; the center should remain slightly soft as it will continue to cook in residual heat. Ensure you use a 6-inch pan for the correct texture; larger pans will result in thin, cakey bars. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave for 10 seconds to restore gooeyness.
