Description
A quick, no-bake fall dessert featuring tart apple slices drizzled with warm caramel and dark chocolate, ready in just 15 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 large Granny Smith apples (about 600g), sliced
- 1 large Red Delicious or Gala apple (about 250g), sliced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 cup water (for soaking apples)
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- ½ cup dark chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- Sea salt flakes (optional)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon sugar (optional)
- Crushed pretzels or chopped pecans (optional)
- Whipped cream (optional)
Instructions
- Wash, core, and slice apples into wedges. Immediately place slices in a bowl of cold water mixed with lemon juice to prevent browning. Drain and pat dry before serving.
- Microwave caramel sauce in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until warm and pourable. Add a teaspoon of water or milk if too thick.
- Combine chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring vigorously after each, until smooth and glossy.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange apple slices in a single layer.
- Drizzle warm caramel over the apples in a zigzag pattern, then drizzle melted chocolate over the top in the opposite direction.
- Sprinkle with sea salt flakes, cinnamon sugar, or crushed pretzels/pecans while the chocolate is still wet.
- Freeze for 5 minutes to set the chocolate and caramel, then serve.
Notes
Use Granny Smith apples for the best crunch and tartness. Ensure the bowl is completely dry when melting chocolate to prevent seizing. For a gluten-free version, check caramel and chocolate labels for hidden gluten and use gluten-free pretzels.
