Football Game Day Pull Apart Pizza Sliders: Easy Swaps

  • Author: Lisa
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Description

These pull-apart pizza sliders are the perfect game day snack that accommodates gluten-free and dairy-free diets without sacrificing flavor. They are customizable, easy to assemble, and delicious for both hot and cold serving.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf Hawaiian-style slider rolls (1216 count, gluten-free if needed)
  • 1 cup marinara or pizza sauce
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted (or plant-based butter for dairy-free)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (or dairy-free melting shreds)
  • 1 package sliced pepperoni (or vegetarian alternatives)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh basil (optional)
  • Black olives, sliced (optional)
  • Mushrooms, sliced thin (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Using a sharp serrated knife, slice the loaf of slider rolls horizontally in half to create a top and bottom layer.
  3. Place the bottom half of the rolls in the prepared baking dish. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce over each roll.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella over the sauce, followed by the pepperoni and any other desired toppings.
  5. Place the top half of the rolls back onto the bottom half and press down gently.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, minced garlic, and dried oregano. Brush this mixture generously over the top of the rolls.
  7. Cover the pan loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  9. Let the sliders cool for 5 minutes to allow the cheese to set, then pull apart and serve.

Notes

For gluten-free rolls, handle gently as they can be crumbly. Ensure dairy-free cheese is pre-shredded for better melting. Do not overload with sauce to prevent sogginess. Can be assembled up to 24 hours ahead and refrigerated before baking.
