Dairy-Free Chocolate Avocado Fudge Squares

  • Author: Lisa
  • Total Time: 2 hours 10 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Description

A rich, fudgy, and dairy-free dessert made with just five ingredients. This no-bake recipe uses ripe avocados for creaminess and dark chocolate for flavor, resulting in a healthy yet indulgent treat ready in minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large ripe avocados (about 400g flesh)
  • 8 ounces (225g) high-quality dark chocolate chips or chopped bars (60-70% cocoa, dairy-free)
  • ¼ cup (60ml) coconut oil (refined or unrefined)
  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Sea salt flakes (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal. Lightly grease the parchment with coconut oil.
  2. Chop dark chocolate into small pieces if using bars. Melt gently in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between intervals, until smooth and glossy. Set aside to cool slightly (warm, not hot).
  3. Place ripe avocados in a food processor and pulse until completely smooth with no green chunks visible. Scrape down the sides as needed.
  4. Add the melted chocolate, coconut oil, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract to the food processor with the avocado.
  5. Pulse a few times to combine, then run continuously for 1-2 minutes until the mixture is deep dark brown, incredibly smooth, and creamy. Scrape down sides and give a final pulse.
  6. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly with a spatula. Tap the pan on the counter to remove air bubbles.
  7. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or freeze for 1 hour, until firm to the touch.
  8. Lift the fudge out using the parchment overhang. Use a sharp knife to cut into 12 squares. Dust with sea salt flakes if desired.
  9. Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator.

Notes

Ensure avocados are perfectly ripe (yielding like a peach) to avoid green specks and grassy taste. Sift powdered sugar to prevent lumps. Let melted chocolate cool slightly before adding to prevent the mixture from becoming too runny. These fudge squares are best served cold and can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months.
