Chocolate Peanut Butter Overnight Breakfast Shake

  • Author: Lisa
  • Total Time: 5 minutes active plus overnight soaking
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A creamy, kid-approved overnight oats shake that requires zero morning effort. Packed with protein and fiber, this chocolate peanut butter breakfast is perfect for busy school mornings and can be prepped in just 5 minutes the night before.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup milk of choice (whole, almond, oat, or soy)
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons natural peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds (optional)
  • 23 ice cubes (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Add the oats, chia seeds, and cocoa powder to a mason jar and stir to prevent clumping.
  2. Pour in the milk, Greek yogurt, maple syrup, and vanilla extract.
  3. Add the peanut butter. For easier mixing, add a small splash of milk first to help dissolve the peanut butter, then add the rest.
  4. Stir well until the peanut butter is mostly dissolved.
  5. Secure the lid tightly and shake the jar vigorously until the mixture looks uniform.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the oats to soften and flavors to meld.
  7. In the morning, stir well. If too thick, add a splash of milk. Add ice cubes for a colder texture or blend for a smoother consistency.
  8. Serve immediately with optional toppings like granola, banana slices, or chocolate chips.

Notes

Use old-fashioned rolled oats for better texture; instant oats turn to mush. Stir natural peanut butter well before measuring as the oil separates. Do not reheat this shake as it will alter the texture of the oats and peanut butter. Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Label jars with dates to track freshness.
