Description
A quick, cozy, and velvety blended chai latte made with loose-leaf tea, warming spices, and ice, topped with a sweet and airy cinnamon honey cold foam.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tablespoons loose-leaf black tea (Assam or Ceylon)
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- A tiny pinch of black pepper
- 2 tablespoons honey (plus extra for foam)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup ice cubes
- Cinnamon for dusting
Instructions
- In a microwave-safe mug or pitcher, combine water, milk, black tea, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, and black pepper.
- Microwave on high for 2-3 minutes until hot but not boiling. Stir well and let steep for 1-2 minutes.
- Stir in 2 tablespoons of honey while the mixture is still hot to dissolve completely.
- Pour the hot chai mixture into a blender and add ice cubes.
- Blend on high for 30-60 seconds until the ice is crushed and the mixture is frothy and smooth.
- In a small bowl, combine heavy cream, 1 tablespoon of honey, and a pinch of cinnamon.
- Whisk vigorously with a small whisk or milk frother until stiff peaks form.
- Pour the blended chai into a mug.
- Spoon the cinnamon honey cold foam generously over the top.
- Dust with extra cinnamon and serve immediately.
Notes
Ensure heavy cream is cold for the foam to whip properly. For a dairy-free version, use oat milk for the base and coconut cream for the foam. You can steep the tea base the night before and store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
